Terms of Service
Last updated: 16 July 2026
This is a plain language summary of the terms for using VAEL, written by the person who makes it, not a law firm. It is not a substitute for legal advice.
1. Acceptance
By downloading, installing, or using VAEL (the app) or the VAEL extension for Claude Desktop, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the software.
2. What VAEL is
VAEL is a desktop productivity application that runs locally on your own computer. A free version is available to everyone. VAEL Horizon is an optional, one time paid upgrade that unlocks additional features, activated with a license key.
3. License
You are granted a personal, non exclusive, non transferable license to install and use VAEL for your own use. A Horizon license key is tied to your own purchase and is not meant to be shared, resold, or transferred to someone else.
You may not reverse engineer, resell, redistribute, or rebrand VAEL or the VAEL Claude extension as your own product.
4. Payment and refunds
VAEL Horizon is sold as a single, one time payment, not a subscription. Payments are processed entirely by Gumroad, a third party payment provider. VAEL does not receive or store your payment details directly.
Refund requests are handled through Gumroad's own refund process and policies.
If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may ordinarily have a 14 day right of withdrawal on purchases of digital content. By completing your purchase and activating your license key, you expressly request immediate access to VAEL Horizon and acknowledge that this right of withdrawal ends once the digital content has been delivered to you.
5. No warranty
VAEL is provided "as is", to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. This does not affect any statutory rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded under the law of your country.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, VAEL and its maker are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the software, including loss of data. You are encouraged to keep your own backups of anything important.
7. Changes
These terms may be updated from time to time as VAEL changes. The version in effect at the time you use the software is the one that applies.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Germany.
